High School Teacher Arrested For Propositioning Minor Online

PLYMOUTH, Mich. -- A Plymouth High School teacher has been charged with using the Internet to proposition a minor.
Investigators with the Michigan Attorney General's office arrested Orin Andrew Kennedy on Thursday at his home in Ypsilanti. He was arraigned on two child-sex felony counts.
"Predators continue to lurk on the internet, trying to approach minors," said Cox. "My office will not let up in its pursuit to track down and prosecute these predators who seek harm to Michigan's children."
The English teacher allegedly propositioned an undercover agent posing as a 14-year-old girl. Authorities also said Kennedy asked the agent to watch a sexually explicit act.
Investigators seized his laptop and a Web camera.
A Plymouth Canton district spokesman says the teacher won't be in the classroom until the matter is resolved.
Bond was set at $50,000 with stipulations that the defendant have no computer or Internet usage. Kennedy will be back in court for a preliminary examination scheduled for March 14, At 1 p.m.
Parents are encouraged to check their children's "Buddy Lists" for the screen names(S) Kennedy Used Including "Oxy69." If they believe their child had contact with Kennedy, parents should contact the Attorney Generals office at 313-456-0180.
