Apartment Fire Victims Put To Rest

POSTED: Friday, March 2, 2007
UPDATED: 1:29 pm EST March 2, 2007

Family and friends gathered to bury a mother and her 3-year-old son on Friday.

Cassandra Motley, 23, and her son Keyambe were among the four people who lost their lives in a fire on Monday.

The blaze broke out at the Silver Oaks Apartments in Southfield. Investigators said the blaze may have started on an electric stove, and the victims could have been saved if the battery in the smoke detector was replaced.

Other victims of the fire are Motley's 26-year-old sister, Sherrie Tobe, and Tobe's 2-year-old son, Tremaine.

Services for Tobe and her son will be held next week.
