Shocking details were revealed Thursday in the investigation of Anthony LaCalamita, a man who police say went to his former employer's office on Monday and shot three people, killing one of them.
Experts close to the investigation told Local 4 that LaCalamita, 38, was fired from his job because a pimp showed up at his office at Gordon Advisors.
Local 4 sources said a so-called pimp allegedly came to LaCalamita's office to collect a debt he owed on a prostitute.
Employees in the office at the time told investigators they overheard the conversation.
LaCalamita entered the 1301 Long Lake Crossings building on Long Lake Road just after 10 a.m. on Monday, armed with a 12-gauge shotgun, according to police.
LaCalamita was previously employed at the Gordon Advisors' Accounting Firm. Police said he targeted the two bosses who fired him the week before, Alan Steinberg and Paul Riva. LaCalamita also shot receptionist Madeline Kafoury as she left Riva's office, police said.
Kafoury died later at Beaumount Hospital in Royal Oak.
Both men remain hospitalized at Beaumont Hospital. Hospital officials said Steinberg is awake and conscious and Riva is still unconscious.
LaCalamita appeared before Judge Michael Martone on Wednesday and was charged with the following:
Count 1: First-degree murder in the death of Madeline Kafoury
Count 2: Possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony
Count 3: Assault with intent to murder for the shooting of Paul Riva
Count 4: Possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony
Count 5: Assault with intent to murder for the shooting of Alan Steinberg
Count 6: Possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony
Count 7: Fleeing and eluding in the fourth degree
Because LaCalamita did not have representation, a not guilty plea was entered on his behalf. His preliminary examination was scheduled for April 19.
When LaCalamita was asked by Martone if he understood the charges and if he was aware that he could be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole if convicted of first-degree murder, he responded, "Yes," to the series of questions posed by the judge.
