Highland Park firefighters will not have any checks to deposit on their payday Tuesday.
A memo given to each firefighter on Monday said that their pay will be delayed for an uncertain amount of time due to lack of city funds.
Highland Park has been in financial trouble before. The police department was shut down last year because of money problems. Now the Wayne County Sheriff's Department is patrolling the streets.
Firefighters said that although they are not getting paid, they are still ready to work.
A meeting is scheduled for Thursday so city officials and firefighters can determine when the department will get paid.
