Police said they are questioning a 16-year-old boy in connection with a bomb threat that closed Rochester schools on Monday.
Investigators said the bomb threat that was called in was a prank.
"It's frustrating because we are losing a day of education, and that's not to say the cost that's going to be involved in this," Rochester Schools Superintendent Dave Pruneau said.
If the 16-year-old, who attends Rochester High School, turns out to be the person responsible for the prank, police said he could face criminal charges, possible expulsion and reimbursement costs to law enforcement.
On Monday, investigators and more than a dozen police K-9s searched every floor of all four Rochester schools.
"I was quite surprised, because stuff like this doesn't happen too often in Rochester," parent Peter Getumonprepz said.
Police said they won't say what led them to believe this particular 16-year-old was responsible. They said they seized eight computers, three phones and advised the teen's parents of the investigation.
The Oakland County Sheriff's Department said they will push for severe prosecution of the student who is found responsible.
