It was another good (training) day for Denzel Washington at the 33rd annual National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Image Awards Saturday.
The Oscar-nominated "Training Day" star took home the NAACP honor for best film actor win at the awards ceremony in Los Angeles.
According to Reuters News Service, the win was Washington's fifth in the last seven years. His award for the role of a corrupt cop in "Training Day" marked Washington's third consecutive win, which was preceded by 1999's "The Hurricane," and 2000's "Remember the Titans."
Halle Berry won best actress honors, but not for her Oscar-nominated role in "Monster's Ball." The honor instead came for the action-thriller "Swordfish."
"Ali," the big screen biographical account of the boxing career of Cassius Clay/Muhammed Ali, won best picture honors.
The awards honor African-Americans for outstanding achievements in film, television, music, literature, and public affairs. Also among the honorees was National Security Adviser Condoleeza Rice, comedian-actor Steve Harvey, and the late singer Aaliyah.
The ceremony will be broadcast on network television Friday.
