DETROIT – DTE confirms that 13,000 people are without power as of Friday morning. Officials said that they expect to have all power back on by the end of the day.

Wednesday's heat combined with a cable failure and maintenance caused a Public Lighting Department system overload. Power was knocked out downtown, causing power outages at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center, Wayne State University and several other buildings.
