Kensington Road, two miles north of Interstate 96, has reopened after a minivan crashed into a tree and shut down the road for more than three hours.
Police said an Ohio family of 4-- three adult men and a girl between the ages of 10 and 13-- were traveling southbound on Kensington Road and did not see a street-sweeping truck.
The minivan swerved, and the driver lost control and crashed into a tree.
It took firefighters and police more than an hour to get all the victims out, said police.
Police said there were no fatalities, but the injuries were serious enough that two people had to be taken to an area hospital in a helicopter and the other two were taken by EMS to an area hospital.
“They were down in the valley, the driver, again condition unknown, but he was pinned multiple places against the dash and the engine block,” said Brighton Fire Dept. Lt. Curt Ruff.
Health officials said all the victims were expected to survive.
Police said the accident caused delays up to three hours on Kensington Road in Brighton on Thursday afternoon.
