Held Hostage At The Gas Pump (4/19/02)
Who Can Explain These Gross Indecencies?

Isn't it something how every holiday season brings grossly increased prices at the gas pump?
The industry is never without an explanation, though none of us but their toadies in congress and the administration can ever "understand" just what they're talking about.
Skinning gasoline consumer has become a sign of spring, summer and fall holidays just as surely as tulips, fireworks and jack-o-lanterns.
We can somewhat understand gas spikes when someone like Saddam Hussein cuts off exports as political protest, but these unexplainable seasonal, holiday hikes are bitterly transparent.
We shouldn't be held hostage at the pump, but apparently that's not among the concerns of those who are fighting terrorism.
Life-threatening political terrorism is easy to identify. Too bad the same isn't true for domestic, economic terrorism like this.
