Family Searches For Missing Mother

POSTED: Tuesday, September 25, 2007
UPDATED: 6:48 pm EDT September 25, 2007

A Grosse Pointe Farms woman has been missing since Saturday night.

Family members said Layla Dietz, 30, went missing after attending a party at the Bayview Yacht Club in Detroit.

Dietz's sister said she saw her around midnight Saturday heading toward the restroom.

There were over 350 people at the party and police said they are confident somebody knows something about Dietz’s whereabouts.

Police have confirmed that Dietz was drinking and they found her purse and shoes at the Bayview Yacht Club.

The Bayview Yacht Club was holding a regatta Saturday.

"Something is not right. She wouldn't be gone this long, She is a single parent," said Krystyna Secunda, Dietz's aunt. "She would be calling someone. She would never leave her son."

Dietz and her 7-year-old son returned home to Grosse Point Farms recently after living in Chicago.

"We are scared to death. We miss her. We want her back," Secunda said. "We know someone might know something out there. It might be a little thing, but it might be something. We miss her. We want Layla home."

Detroit police had their boat in the water and were using sonar technology to search, but have not found any sign of Dietz.

Dietz’s family has been searching the water and the coastline near the Yacht Club for any sign of Dietz on Tuesday.

If you have any information, call police.
