DETROIT -- Police release a surveillance tape Monday in the investigation of a couple's kidnapping and carjacking in southwest Detroit in August.
It started at the Sunoco gas station on West Grand Boulevard and Verner Highway.
Both victims said they were kidnapped and robbed. The boyfriend said after he was beat up, he was dropped off a few blocks away. His girlfriend was found in a deserted area near Michigan Avenue and Livernois, police said.
"While the whole incident was going on, he was referred to as Darryl by his accomplice friends," said the victim, who did not want to be identified. "We were approached by the gentleman as we exited. They ended up following us out."
