The United States Postal Service has issued an alert about stolen mail.

According to Ed Moore, of the USPS, a mail truck was stolen Wednesday while a female carrier was walking her route in Detroit.

The truck was taken from the 5900 block of Renville in southwest Detroit.

Detroit police said the mail truck was recovered late Wednesday afternoon. It was parked in an alley but much of the mail was missing, said police.

Moore said all of the missing mail seems to be from the 48210 Zip Code and included mail bound for addresses in the 5900 to 6700 blocks of Renville.

The concern among residents in the affected area is that their personal information will fall into the wrong hands.

Moore said residents who suspect their mail was stolen should take precaution by calling the people and businsses they were expecting mail from.

Residents who have questions can also call the United States Postal Service.
