DETROIT -- "Miracle" the puppy is improving tremendously.
Miracle was part of a litter of puppies that was hog-tied in a Detroit abandoned home and set on fire, police said.
Miracle was the only puppy that survived.
Police reported a neighbor saw some children carrying the puppies into the house, then running away when the house caught on fire.
The two-month-old puppy was taken to a Almost Home Animal Rescue and then brought to the Oakland Veterinary Referral Services for treatment.
Miracle had third-degree burns over 20 percent of her body, second-degree burns over 20 percent of her body and first-degree burns over 40 percent of her body.
Miracle will need intensive critical care and many surgeries. Veterinarians said she is eating on her own now and that is a very good sign.
Her initial care is being funded by the Almost Home Animal Rescue and the Emergency Animal Relief Foundation.
If you would like to help Miracle with a donation, you can send checks to the Oakland Veterinary Referral Services at 1400 Telegraph Road in Bloomfield Hills, Mich. 48302.
