We are now less than 2 months away from what would have been….and could still be…the Michigan presidential primary.
The courts shot the plan down over technicalities.
Now it is probably up to the legislature to correct those technicalities and get the primary back on track.
It's not too late.
The primary will allow michigan voters a say in who gets nominated by both parties in the presidential election.
Closed party caucuses, the apparent alternative to the primary, is, as the name implies, a closed process. That's not the way to go.
There are several theories as to why the legislature has failed to act…all of them have to do with selfish petty politics.
WDIV/Local 4 urges lawmakers in Lansing to put that aside and do something good for the voters and the political process.
I'm Steve Wasserman, let me hear from you.
