Marygrove College To Host Student Safety Meeting

The Marygrove College, in collaboration with the Neighborhood United Community Block Club Association, Michigan Campus Compact, Mike’s Fresh Market and 250 students from five Detroit area high schools, will meet on Friday to discuss solutions toward student safety.
The gathering will take place from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Liberal Arts building on the Marygrove College Campus, located at 8245 West Nichols Road in Detroit.
Marygrove College political science professor Dr, Tal Levy, Michigan Sen. Martha Scott, Michigan Reps. Bert Johnson and Marsha Creeks and Detroit Public School Board President Dr Jimmy Womack will be part of an expert panel.
The Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute and the American Lung Association of Michigan will host BREATHER 2007, a lung cancer medical and advocacy conference on Friday at the Ritz Carlton of Dearborn.
The all-day conference will bring experts, patients and patient advocates to network and learn more about lung cancer advances both in treatment and in advocacy.
Registration will begin at 7 a.m., the conference will run from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The keynote speaker is Dr. Deborah Morosini, sister of the late Dana Reeve and board member of the Lung Cancer Alliance. Other speakers will include members of Karmanos Cancer Institute, the Mayo Clinic, University of Michigan Health System, New York University School of Medicine and several lung cancer survivors.
Cost is $75 for medical professionals, $25 for other patients and guests. Lunch is included.
