"All I could hear was a little bit of rain then a noise like a train-like," said resident Michael Moore. I got up and ran for the door and felt the house start to move and I went to get my daughters."

Moore said ceiling tiles fell from his home, causing damage to his daughter's bedroom.

"I looked outside over top of here. I believe it was a roof to the carport just flying in the air," said resident Chris Quarrels.

Quarrels said he saw debris from several homes flying.

Firefighters said three homes were damaged, with roofs and siding blown off.

Officials said it looked like straight-line winds, which is rare for Michigan in January.

There were no injuries.
