MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. -- Macomb County Commissioner Pete Lund Tuesday announced the winners of his worst pothole contest.
Lund asked residents to submit photos of potholes that looked like craters. After searching through hundreds of entries on his Web site
www.petelund.com, he decided to award Mrs. Carter of Sterling Heights a $400 gift card for a set of new tires for her submission of tire-eating potholes on Van Dyke at 16 ½ mile roads.
Lund also named Daniel VanDeKerkhove of Macomb Township the runner up for brining to his attention the "third world road" on Tilch Road between M-59 and 21 Mile Road.
VanDeKerkhove won a gift card for a front-end alignment for his entry.
“It is time for the bureaucrats in Lansing to wake up and address this problem,” Lund said. “I want longer warranties on new roads and repairs. Why should taxpayers keep paying big bucks for shoddy work?
