SALEM, Mich. -- M-14 in both directions near Gotfredson Road in Washtenaw County are back open after a construction crane accident on Thursday. The crane was on top of the bridge preparing for bridge construction work when it fell through the overpass around 1 p.m. It did not fall all the way through to the road beneath it. It was caught on the metal bar that keeps the bridge in place.Debris was scattered across M-14.

Officials said that the Department of Transportation had planned to shut the freeway west of Plymouth this weekend and demolish the overpass. The project is expected to last until September.
