1890: Baseball Hall of Fame manager Casey Stengel, who led the New York Yankees to seven World Series titles in 1949-53, 1956 and 1958, is born in Kansas City, Mo. Between his playing and his managing careers, he is the only man to have worn four of New York's major league clubs' uniforms, playing for the Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Giants and managing the Dodgers, Yankees and New York Mets.
