Woman Arrested In Connection With Belle Isle Body Found

DETROIT -- Detroit police have arrested a 23-year-old Hamtramck woman in connection with the startling discovery of a body on Belle Isle Thursday.
The body was identified as Maria Carrissimi, 20, of St. Clair Shores. The Wayne County medical examiners determined Carrissimi died of strangulation.
Her body was found fully clothed, face down and wearing high heels.
A man walking his dog in a wooded area near the Belle Isle Nature Zoo at around 9 a.m. found Carrissimi's body, police said.
The motive of the crime is unknown at this time, but more people are being sought in the investigation.
