DETROIT -- A wounded barricaded man surrendered to police Friday afternoon after he robbed a bank, stole a cab and led police on a chase, police said.
The man peacefully came out of a house on Geneva Road and Second Street in Highland Park after a one-hour standoff.
Police said the man took a Metropolitan Cab around 1:30 p.m. Friday from Detroit to the National City bank in Royal Oak and robbed it. After the man robbed the bank, he got back into the cab. When police surrounded the cab on Main Street, the driver and the suspected bank robber got out of the car.
Police said the suspected bank robber jumped back into the cab and a police chase ensued, until he stopped at the Highland Park home.
The man was held up in the home for over an hour until he came out around 5 p.m.
Police said the house he went into was not his.
Police said they believe the man is wounded. It is not clear if it's a self-inflicted wound or if the police shot him.
