Car containing 5 teenagers loses control in Rochester Hills neighborhood, crashes into garage

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. – A Rochester teen crashed his vehicle into a garage in Rochester Hills early Saturday morning.   The 16-year-old boy lost control of his 2013 Dodge Dart at a high rate of speed on N. Fairview Lane between Grandview Drive and Brewster Road, the Oakland County Sheriff's Office told Local 4.  The vehicle hit a large landscaping boulder and then flipped over and crashed into the attached garage of a residence.  Two vehicles inside the garage were damaged.

"My daughter said, oh my god are we having an earthquake?" said homeowner Carol Flynn.

Another 15-year-old Rochester Hills resident was in the vehicle, along with three other juveniles.  After the crash, all five got out of the car.  One collapsed at the rear of the vehicle, while the driver collapsed two houses down.  The remaining three fled the scene.

The driver was taken to McLaren Hospital in Pontiac and was listed in stable condition and has a compound fracture in his arm.  The other known passenger was taken to Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak where he was also listed in stable condition.

The crash remains under investigation, but the Oakland County Sheriff's Office says alcohol appears to have played a factor in the crash.

"I do hope they get in trouble. It's a very serious thing," said Flynn.
