Mother Charged For Driving With Son, 16, On Hood

POSTED: 3:00 pm EDT May 14, 2008

An Eastpointe mother was charged with second-degree child abuse after an officer stopped her Monday for driving with her 16-year-old son on the hood of her car.

Police said the mother and her son got into an argument because he spent the night at his girlfriend's home. The teen jumped on the hood of his mother's car in attempt to stop her when she said she was going to go and confront his girlfriend and her parents.

The ride came to an end when 46-year-old Rita Francesca drove by a scout car and was arrested.

The 16-year-old did not fall off the car and did not suffer any injuries, police said.
