1985: Representatives of the Parents Music Resource Center, including co-founder Tipper Gore (pictured), testify along with musicians Dee Snider, Frank Zappa and John Denver at U.S. Congressional hearings on obscenity in rock music. On Nov. 1, 1985, before the hearing ended, the Recording Industry Association of America would agree to put "Parental Advisory" labels on selected releases at their own discretion.
