WARREN, Mich. -- A gas station clerk halts a robbery Wednesday at her family-owned Sunoco gas station in Warren by pulling out a gun and fighting the robber.
"I had to do what I had to do," said Eva Yousif.
Surveillance cameras captured a man with a hooded sweatshirt entering the station on 9 Mile and Van Dyke roads. The man waited for the station to clear out and handed Yousif a note stating a holdup was in progress, police said.
As the man wedged himself in between Yousif and the register, she pulled out a BB gun from under the counter.
The man wrestled with Yousif and tried knocking her into a glass pane. However, Yousif stood unwavering until the man was able to loosen the BB gun from her clutch and ran away.
Yousif said she doesn't think he'll come back, but if he does, she'll be ready for him.
Warren police responded three minutes after the alarm rang, but were not able to catch the man.
Yousif says her only regret is she didn't kick him where the "sun doesn't shine."
She also said she now wants to apply for a concealed weapons license because her family has worked too hard to establish the business and she's not going to let anyone rip them off.
