DETROIT, Mich. -- A Wayne County judge found a Hamtramck woman not guilty of killing a 20-year-old woman on Belle Isle.
After two-hours of deliberation on Wednesday, the jury threw out second-degree murder charges against Misti Farmer.
Farmer and Alicia Yellow Fox-Hall were accused of strangling to death Maria Carissimi of St. Clair Shores, after a fight.
They were accused of planning to take Carissimi to Belle Isle, beat her up, and leave her there stranded.
A man walking his dog found Carissimi's body April 3 in a wooded area of Belle Isle.
A Detroit police spokeswoman said the initial motive was that they were fighting over a man they had been dating.
In a plea deal, Fox-Hall pleaded guilty last week to reduced charges of assault with intent to do bodily harm. She will be sentenced on July 11.
