Police Seek BB Gun Vandals

POSTED: Monday, June 30, 2008
UPDATED: 11:50 am EDT July 1, 2008

More than 100 families in Utica, Macomb and Shelby Township are on alert after their homes and vehicles were damaged by BB gunshots overnight.

Police said three teenagers, ages 16, 17, and 18, each armed with a BB gun are responsible and fired more than 1,000 shots.

Shelby Township was the hardest hit by vandals with more than 50 residents waking up Monday morning to shattered glass around their homes.

“We were worried about the kids and dogs. What if someone went through a house or a dog or kid in a car when this happened?” said Catherine Sheaves.

“I thought someone put shaving cream all over my window and when I looked closer, it was shattered. So went and got my husband and had him look and we called police,” said Jennifer Sopko.

Police said the teens claim it was a prank to kick off summer vacation.
