DETROIT -- The Detroit City Council will vote on a resolution Tuesday asking Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick for 120 more days to put together a new ordinance regulating strip clubs in the city.
The decision followed a Monday evening public hearing at Pasteur Elementary School on the city's west side.
The city currently has 39 strip clubs. That number is down from nearly 100 in operation in 1969.
The city is facing new lawsuits from strip club owners saying the current city ordinance is too restrictive, but some community groups say the changes under consideration will make any new ordinance too lenient.
