Police: Teen Was Driving 109 MPH In Fatal Crash

LIVONIA, Mich. -- During a preliminary examination Tuesday, police testified that a 16-year-old charged as an adult with second-degree murder in a fatal crash was driving 109 miles per hour and had a blood alcohol level of .08 percent when he struck a car and killed a 20-year-old man and injured his fiancée.Daniel Andreassi, a Stevenson High School student, is accused of driving his 1999 Camaro at excessive speeds when he sideswiped a 1997 Sable driven by Anthony Michael Cosenza, of Detroit, as Amy Adams, 20, of Westland was in the passenger seat.Cosenza died at the scene and Adams was treated for injuries at Saint Mary Mercy Hospital in Livonia.
Cosenza and Adams were pulling out of the 1 Under Bar and Grill on 5 Mile Road, where he worked, around 12:30 a.m. on May 18.Cosenza and Adams planned on getting married in October. They have a 4-month-old boy and care for a 1-year-old boy. His co-workers said he was a great guy and worked hard to support his family.Livonia police officers found beer cans in Andreassi's car.Andreassi is being lodged at a juvenile detention center and is being held without bond.
