POSTED: Tuesday, July 8, 2008
UPDATED: 4:54 pm EDT July 8, 2008

Police said the man they suspect to be a serial bank robber almost robbed a Best Bank inside a Meijer store in Lincoln Park on Tuesday.

Additionally, police said the unidentified man believed to be in his 20s or 30s may be responsible for a robbery that happened at the same Best Bank location on June 28.

Police said when the man attempted to rob the bank on Tuesday, the teller recognized him as the same person who had robbed the bank before.

Police said the suspect fled when he realized he had been recognized.

Police also said they believe that the same suspect attempted to rob the Best Bank in Southfield later in the day. When he failed there police said he successfully robbed the Best Bank inside the Dearborn Heights Kroger on the same day.

Police said he may carry an unknown make or model handgun.
