Greektown To Hire 400 New Employees

Detroit's Greektown Casino may be in bankruptcy, but it's looking to hire as many as 400 employees for its new casino hotel.

The casino has partnered with the Detroit Workforce Development Department, which will begin prescreening candidates at all of its four service centers Thursday.

Downtown screening takes place at 455 West Fort Street.

Another location in the New Center area is at 707 West Milwaukee.

The casino said it wants to fill positions with as many Detroit residents as possible-- as long as they meet licensing requirements.

Last month, Greektown cut 89 workers as part of its Chapter 11 reorganization process.

A Greektown representative said those employees will be the first in line for the new jobs.

The Greektown hotel is expected to open in 2009.
