A party for laid-off workers could lead to a promising future for information technology professionals.

VisionIT of Detroit, in collaboration with Manpower Professional, will be hosting a Pink Slip Party Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Royal Oak Brewery on East Fourth Street in Royal Oak. IT professionals who have lost their jobs are invited to meet with recruiters who are looking to fill more than 300 IT positions at Vision IT.

"We also know that there is a great deal of talent right here in Michigan and we want to leverage that talent as best we can," said Christine Rice, VisionIT president.

Pink Slip Parties first started in Silicon Valley and New York in early 200 and spread to many metropolitan cities in the U.S.

VisionIT encourages those who attend to bring copies of their resumes.
