16-year-old killed in 2-car crash in Roseville

33-year-old arrested on suspicion of driving drunk

ROSEVILLE, Mich. – Roseville police are investigating a fatal car accident that killed a 16-year-old girl and left seven others injured.

The two-car accident happened at the intersection of Little Mack Avenue and 12 Mile Road in Roseville just after midnight. Police say a group of teens were riding in a Ford Explorer on northbound Little Mack when the driver ran a red light at the intersection. The SUV was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound.

Police say the 16-year-old victim was riding in the back seat and was not wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash. The force of the impact ejected her from the SUV. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other passengers in the vehicle included six teenagers and one adult. They all suffered from minor injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 33-year-old Clinton Township woman, sustained injuries in the accident. She was arrested at the scene on suspicion of operating her vehicle while intoxicated. She is currently being held in the Roseville Police Department Jail.

The Roseville Police Departments Major Crash Team is investigating this accident. Details of the case will be turned over to the Macomb County Prosecutors Office Monday, where charges, if any, will be determined.
