DETROIT - A 17-year-old girl was the victim of a terrible crime on Detroit's west side.
The girl was followed, raped and robbed while walking down a street near Greenfield and West Outer Drive.
Her attacker is still out there, and tonight the community where this happened remains in fear.
"It's a shame, it's not safe I mean it's scary," said Diane Jarif who often waits for the bus in the same area as the attack. "I am fearful," she said.
Police say Monday night just after 10 p.m. a man approached the girl while she was walking.
The victim told police a man came up behind her, robbed her and than sexually assaulted her.
Police believe the suspect had a gun.
"It's all about being aware of your surroundings," said Dionisia Smith who also uses the bus stop.
Police say they are working on a sketch of the suspect and they hope witnesses will come forward to help catch the man.
"It's very scary," said Jarif.
