Marche Lowe shot in head, remains in critical condition

CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 17-year-old Chesterfield Township girl is fighting for her life as the story of what happened inside her home continues to change.

Police tell Local 4 Marche Lowe's 20-year-old boyfriend is in custody and the prime suspect in Monday's shooting.

UPDATE: Boyfriend in custody after 17-year-old girl shot in head

Lowe's boyfriend originally claimed a man shot the 17-year-old and fled the scene in a silver Toyota, but police sources told Local 4 there are serious doubts about the his story.

MSP officials have been in and out of the house in the 25900 block of Briar Towne Boulevard, looking for a gun and any evidence that shows who was inside when Lowe was shot.

"A female was transported from the scene to a local hospital," Chesterfield Township police Chief Bradley Kersten said.

Police said they're still looking for the silver Toyota, but there are doubts that it or the alleged shooter is real.

Minutes before Lowe was shot in her home, she was on Snapchat with one of her best friends. She was hanging out and eating McDonald's with her boyfriend in the house.

Lowe's boyfriend wasn't supposed to be at the home while her mother was at work. Her friends said she had a history of violence with her boyfriend. They said he had hit Lowe in the past and she had hit him back.

Her friends claim the boyfriend recently threatened to kill her.

The man is being held at the Chesterfield Police Department on outstanding warrants.

Neighbors in the subdivision said they didn't hear a car speeding away, and they said there was no ruckus until police arrived.

"This is just a shock," said a neighbor who didn't want to be identified. "She was a good kid, and I never would imagine this would happen to her."
