Child Left In Car

Drunk Driver Crashes Car With Child Inside

POSTED: Monday, July 28, 2008
UPDATED: 6:48 pm EDT July 29, 2008

A mother in Oakland County may face charges after her 4-year-old child was in a car that crashed in Pontiac.

According to police, the child's mother was hosting a loud party when her child decided to go outside to a quiet car to sleep.

Then an unrelated 37-year-old woman, Marlene Chapman took the car to buy beer, while the child was still inside.

Police say she crashed the car on North Perry Street.

Chapman appeared in court Tuesday and was charged with drunk driving.

The girl has head injuries, but is in stable condition.

The child's mother could be charged with neglect.
