Some quick-thinking co-workers may have saved a Madison Heights brother and sister from some possible noxious fumes in their home.
A report in Royal Oak's
Daily Tribune said that Remedios Aguilar's three co-workers went to the woman's house in the 30400 block of Westmore after the 53-year-old woman failed to return her telephone and pager calls.
When workers knocked on the door of the home, Aguilar's brother, Roberto, opened the door, but they said he appeared dazed and confused, according to police.
Roberto Aguiluar, 48, was escorted outside and the workers, unable to find Remedios, contacted police, according to the report.
Officers kicked down an upstairs door and discovered the woman in bed, foaming at the mouth, police said.
Firefighters later found carbon monoxide in the house, but a Fire Department representative said the source of the carbon monoxide was unidentified as of late Wednesday.
The siblings were transported to the St. John Oakland Hospital in critical condition, and were later transferred to Detroit Receiving Hospital.
Consumers Energy is investigating the source of the leak, the
Tribune reported.
The report did not say where the woman worked.
