Weekend I-75 Closures

POSTED: Friday, August 22, 2008
UPDATED: 3:46 pm EDT August 22, 2008

The following construction projects are planned for this weekend, beginning on Friday and running till Monday.

  • Interstate 75 in Detroit -- both directions of I-75 will be closed between M-8, the Davison Freeway, and I-94 for bridge work. The freeway will close at 9 p.m. on Friday and reopen at 5 a.m. on Monday. Suggested Alternate Route: southbound I-75 traffic can exit onto westbound M-8 and take southbound M-10, the Lodge Freeway, to eastbound I-94. Crews will open that ramp, which is currently closed for the weekend, back to southbound I-75. Northbound I-75 traffic will be directed onto westbound I-94 to northbound M-10 to eastbound M-8 back to northbound I-75.

  • In Oakland County, work crews will be moving into the next stage on the I-96/Wixom Road project. On Saturday, crews plan to shift Wixom Road traffic onto the newly constructed western half of the bridge. Wixom will stay in it's current configuration with one lane open in each direction and a center turn lane. On I-96, the only changes are as follows: Crews will open the westbound I-96 exit ramp to Wixom Road, and open the entrance ramp from Wixom to eastbound I-96. Afterwards, crews will close the Wixom Road entrance ramp to westbound I-96 and the eastbound I-96 exit to Wixom Road. All traffic affected by the ramp closure will be directed to use the Beck Road/I-96 interchange. The new configuration is expected to remain in place until late Nov.

  • In Wayne County, maintenance on the bridge that carries westbound I-94 over I-275 will close two lanes on westbound I-94 over I-275. The lane restrictions are scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. Saturday and end at 5 a.m. on Monday.

  • One lane of the Southfield Freeway between 8 Mile and McNichols roads will be closed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
