Obama Sign Vandalized With Swastika

POSTED: Monday, September 29, 2008
UPDATED: 10:55 am EDT September 30, 2008

A Clinton Township man said he is fed up with the spreading of hatred through political views after a lawn sign in his yard was vandalized with a swastika.

“I choose to show my views and someone chooses to come and put a hatred symbol on it,” said Keith Larose, who supports Democratic Presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama.

Larose said he has had three Obama lawn signs stolen from his property.

Vandals struck again Sunday night, spray painting a black swastika on a sign in Larose’s yard.

“It’s a racism sign, its hatred,” Larose said. “This is unacceptable. We can’t tolerate this stuff in our neighborhoods.”

Larose is the father of three biracial children and said the symbol is troubling for his family. Larose said he was not happy about having to sit his children down and explain to them that there are people filled with negative feelings toward other races in the world.

Larose said he only has one thought for whoever is responsible for the vandalism, “Shame on you.”

“To spread this type of evil, this is terrible,” he said.

Clinton Township police said another Obama sign was stolen around the corner from Larose’s home, but they are unsure if the two incidents are related.
