EASTPOINTE, Mich. -- A father from Eastpointe is pleading for the return of his son after his mother failed to return him after a court-issued visit in July.
“He’s missing soccer, he’s missing school, his friends,” said Jeff Edwards. “It’s very, very hard but I’m doing a lot of praying and I have full faith.”
Edwards said he dropped his son, Pierce, off to his mother, Muingo Muthui, in Ohio -- a halfway point between his home and where Muthui is from in Pennsylvania.
Muthui was supposed to return Pierce after the two-week court-issued visit, but never did. Edwards said he has not heard or seen from Mathui since then.
Edwards has had sole custody of Pierce since the couple separated three years ago.
Edwards said he believes Mathui is on the run with her sister and five young children, including Pierce.
“I haven’t been sleeping or eating right, it’s a terrible amount of stress,” said Edwards.
Edwards is not the only one searching for Mathui. Eastpointe police and the FBI have warrants out for her arrest.
