UPDATED: 12:10 pm EDT October 6, 2008

A 22-year-old Lincoln Park man was arraigned on open murder charges in connection with the beating death of 20-year-old Joseph Anthony Favot.

Chad Loyal England was arraigned Monday at the 24th District Court in Allen Park.

Favot died on Sept. 28 of his injuries at Oakwood Hospital, two-weeks after he was beaten at a party and slipped into a coma.

The incident happened on Sept. 14 on the 14000 block of University Drive. Police said Favot had gotten into a fight with his girlfriend and was asked to leave.

A witness told police England walked up to Favot and punched him in the face three times, causing him to fall to the ground.

When Favot attempted to get up, England kicked him in the forehead twice, causing his head to bounce off the curb, said a witness.

England fled the area, as people from the party called 911 twice. The first call came at 3:06 a.m. and the second call came at 3:08 p.m., both were from unidentified females.

Police said at the time of the incident, only one person admitted to witnessing the fight.
