ROYAL OAK, Mich. -- Economic issues will be on the agenda at a town hall meeting featuring politicians, local businesses and labor leaders.
"Keep It Made In America" will be the theme of the town hall at the Royal Oak Music Theatre. The event will begin at 6:15 p.m. on Monday.
The free event will be hosted by The Alliance For American Manufacturing. The joint event will feature The United Steelworkers Union, American steel manufacture companies and Democratic Michigan senators Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin.
In light of the upcoming elections, the leaders will talk about the need to save U.S. manufacturing jobs and overcoming the devastating impact of the U.S. trade deficit.
The U.S. has lost more than 3.5 million manufacturing jobs since 2000 and more than 40,000 factories have closed in the past 10 years, and Michigan has been hit hard, shedding more than 200,000 jobs.
