DETROIT -- Neighbors celebrated Tuesday as police arrested three people running a drug house on Detroit's southwest side and confiscated more than $ 1 million worth of drugs.
A neighborhood tip led police to a drug home on Greenview Road, near Southfield and Warren roads.
When police raided the home, they found 36 trash bags stuffed with marijuana, equaling 677 pounds; $100,000 worth of cocaine; four handguns and 4 assault riffles.
"I am glad it's out of the neighborhood. All these people doing drugs out here, they needed to get out of here," said neighbor Terry, who did not want his last name used. "They were taking the neighborhood down the drain."
The Detroit police joined forces with Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms agents on a mission called Operation Tide, as part of a safe neighborhood cleanup.
"We're trying to push the drug dealers and sellers out of this neighborhoods," said Detroit Deputy Chief Marshal Lyons.
The three people arrested will be arraigned later this week.
