UPDATED: 10:15 am EST January 7, 2009

Detroit's historic Fort Shelby hotel reopened in December after a $90 million renovation and is now ready to lease its 54 apartments and two penthouses.

The apartments are located between the 11th and 21st floors of the hotel's building, which is located downtown off Lafayette Boulevard.

The hotel originally opened in 1917 and was added to the National Register of Historic places in 1983.

The hotel has 203 rooms and more than 20,000 square feet of meeting space.

The apartments share a lobby with the hotel but residents access their living spaces though a private elevator.

One- and two- bedroom apartment floor plans are available; penthouses are two-level.

Apartments feature custom window treatments, granite counter tops, tiled master bathrooms and designer cabinetry and lighting.

Residents have full access to the hotel's amenities, which include 24-hour dining options, housekeeping, dry cleaning services, valet parking and a concierge.

There are 12 one-bedroom apartments, 939 to 1,350 square feet, going for $1,630 to $2,515 per month.

There are 42 two-bedroom apartments, 1,223 to 1,848 square feet, with rents between $2,155 and $3,185 per month.

The two-story penthouse Sky Suites range from about 2,097 to 2,231 square feet with monthly rent priced at $4,120 to $4,355.
