Detroit Police Plan To Reopen Closed Precinct

POSTED: Monday, January 12, 2009
UPDATED: 5:43 pm EST January 12, 2009

The Detroit Police Department announced it will reopen the 10th Precinct, which was one of six precincts shut down in 2005.

Department Public Information officer James Tate said the precinct will reopen in the same west side building on Feb. 2.

Tate said the department also has plans to reopen the 5th and 8th precincts, but the dates for those reopenings have not yet been set.

The 5th and 8th precincts will reopen in different locations because the city no longer owns the buildings they had occupied.
