DETROIT -- The Detroit Red Wings, along with the National Hocky League Diversity and the Detroit Hockey Association, will host their fifth annual "Hockey in the Hood" Tournament Saturday.
The tournament will feature inner-city youth hockey teams from Detroit and nine other cities nationwide.
The Stanley Cup and the Jack Adams Trophy will be stationed at the tournament for guests to take pictures from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. There will also be a segment during the tournament for the Michigan Sled Dogs to compete against the Windsor Bullets in a Sledge Hockey game.
"Hocky in the hood is the highlight of our season," said Will McCants, president of the Detroit Hockey Association. "It's the first minority tournament of its kind and will feature many different ethnic backgrounds."
The tournament runs all weekend long, with the championship game held on Feb. 15.
Hockey player Willie O'Ree will start the festivities by dropping the ceremonial puck during the opening ceremony starting at 2 p.m on Saturday at the Jack Adams Memorial Arena.
