NEW HAVEN, Mich. -- A substitute teacher and coach at New Haven High School turned himself in to police Monday morning after he was accused of having inappropriate relationships with several female students.
Darryl Anthony Peterson Jr., 27, has been arraigned on three counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct.
New Haven Police Chief Michael Henry said the department received a call from the school with the allegations on March 27. After an investigation, the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office issued warrants for Peterson.
The district's superintendent said Peterson had previously been contracted through an outside agency to work as a substitute teacher and coach, but was immediately removed from the school once the allegations surfaced.
Peterson's bond for all charges was set at $25,000. Police said he would be tethered to his home after his release from the Macomb County Jail.
Peterson's next court date is scheduled for April 13 at the 42-B District Court.
