DETROIT -- Two armed robberies took place in an area of Detroit's east side Tuesday morning.
Police believe the same man is responsible for both robberies.
A man with a gun confronted a mail carrier at about 10:30 a.m. on Alcoy Street. He stole personal items from the postal carrier and ran away, police said.
A short time later a few blocks away, a DTE Energy employee was robbed as he worked in an alley connecting a power line to a meter on a building.
Neither victim was injured during the robberies.
A salon owner in that building believes that robber was in his salon earlier.
Jaymes Williams said he thought the man might have considered robbing his business.
"I'm glad he didn't rob our shop. I believe he would have done something if there weren't that many people in there," Williams said.
The robber was described as black man in his early 20s, about 5 feet 5 inches tall with light complexion and a thin mustache.
U.S. Postal Inspector Wylie Christopher said any attack on a postal carrier is a federal crime.
"The United States Postal Service is offering a reward of up to $10,000 that can lead to the arrest and conviction of the individual who committed this crime," Christopher said.
