Shelby Woman Found Floating In Pond

Death Ruled Accidental

POSTED: Tuesday, May 19, 2009
UPDATED: 4:02 pm EDT May 19, 2009

Police said a 51-year-old Macomb County woman may have gone into a pond on her own before drowning.

A maintenance worker found Hader Fathalla floating early Monday afternoon in a retention pond at her Shelby Township apartment complex off West Utica Road, about 26 miles north of Detroit.

Her slippers and socks were found near the pond.

Fathalla was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Her death has been ruled an accidental drowning.

Police said there were no witnesses and foul play is not suspected.

A relative had reported Fathalla missing before she was found in the pond.
