DETROIT -- Deputy Oakland County Executive Dennis Toffolo died after a heart attack at his Oxford home Tuesday.
He was 62.
Toffolo oversaw the county's Department of Economic Development and Community Affairs for eight years and served as a member of several area boards and committees.
He was also the owner of the real estate firm DeDonDa and the development firm Toffolo and Associates.
Toffolo was also the president of the J.L. Hudson department store chain.
"Every time someone passes you hear a lot of superlatives about the impact he had on his friends and the community," Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson said in a statement about Toffolo's passing. "In Dennis' case, all of the superlatives are true. He lit up any room with his smile. The staff adored him. There aren't many irreplaceable people in this universe but I respectfully suggest Dennis Toffolo was one of those people."
A funeral mass is planned for Saturday at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, 2700 Waldon Road, in Lake Orion.
A time has not yet been set.
His wife, Diana, and three children survive Toffolo.
